Xbox Game Pass adds Rage and DOOM: August ’18 Games List, Price, Backwards Compatible News

It’s just been during QuakeCon 2018 that two new games are joining Xbox Game Pass today, with two incredible sci-fi shooters.

From today, you can now play the post-apocalyptic Rage as well as the critically-acclaimed, fan-heralded first-person shooter DOOM.

If you want a little more info, keep reading:

After a cataclysmic event nearly destroys the planet, you’ll emerge from cryosleep to a world long lost to law and order, to one that welcomes chaos and despair in id Software’s Rage. In this open-world shooter, you’ll venture out into this “new” world taking on quests, upgrading and driving your vehicle across desolate and foreboding landscapes, and engage in some epic gunplay that the celebrated game studio is so well known for. And with the pre-E3 announcement that Rage 2 is coming in the Spring of 2019, now’s the best time to return to its roots.

Today’s news is also a very special time for id Software as well, as the original Rage was always considered a passion project for the team; especially for Tim Willits, studio head of id Software. They’re incredibly excited that a new generation of gamers will have a chance to experience one of their favorite creations, available now on Xbox Game Pass for members to enjoy – and for those who’ve played it before, a little refresher of Rage wouldn’t hurt.

The granddaddy of shooters returns with guns blazing and demon killing on its mind. In 2016, id Software re-defined the word “reboot” with Doom, putting us back in the boots of one of gaming’s most iconic heroes: The Doom Slayer.

After being unearthed from a mysterious crypt on the planet Mars, you’ll quickly get back to work slaying hellish demons, wielding incredibly destructive weapons, and executing brutal melee attacks as you work to keep the invasion from Hell at bay – and uncover what sinister secrets the Union Aerospace Corporation (UAV) has locked away.

And once you’re done demon slaying, hop online to engage in some classic multiplayer matches, or build your own competitive maps to share with the larger Doom community thanks to the innovative SnapMap tool.

Xbox Game Pass August News

Microsoft has finally announced their new August Xbox Game Pass titles, which are being added to the service TODAY. The new games include:

  • Ryse: Son of Rome
  • Ruiner
  • Dead Rising 2
  • The Escapists: The Walking Dead
  • Hitman Season 1
  • Dandara
  • Disney Pixar Adventure (Xbox 360 Kinect Game)

Xbox Game Pass News – August 1st, 1PM:

It’s a little strange as Xbox One fans are still waiting to hear what games will be added to Xbox Game Pass for August.

Normally, the announcement is made as early as a week before the end of the month but for whatever reason Microsoft has delayed the announcement.

Still, we do know which games have no left the service as Xbox Game Pass fans waved goodbye to the following six games this morning:

  • DiRT Rally
  • Overcooked
  • Pharaonic
  • So Many Me
  • Ultratron

In other news, Microsoft has added a new Xbox Game Pass tab on the Xbox One Home, making it even easier to access Xbox Game Pass on Xbox One.

“This new tab makes Xbox Game Pass even more discoverable to new members and will help our current members check out what’s new every time they turn on their console,” Microsoft explained in a new blog post

“It also up-levels popular titles in the catalog, highlights newly-added games, spotlights the latest deals on games and DLC for members, and recommends games based on your interests so that you can easily find your next favorite game.”

Stay tuned for more details about Xbox Games Pass in August 2018, hopefully, in the coming hours.

ORIGINAL STORY – Microsoft and Xbox bosses launched their new Netflix-style subscription service for games at the start of June 2017, known as Xbox Game Pass.

For just £7.99 per month, subscribers can play more than 100 Xbox One and Xbox 360 games (via ) on their Xbox One consoles with absolutely no time limit, as long as the game is still available.

But it doesn’t end there, as Xbox promise that every month they will add “a new set of games to the catalogue so there is always something new to play across a diversity of experiences, genres, ratings and more.”

During an Xbox Daily Interview, Xbox Game Pass senior product manager Dennis Ceccarelli said fans can expect “at least five new games” at the start of every month.

As an added benefit, Microsoft revealed that members can also purchase all Xbox One games in the catalogue – and related add-ons – at an exclusive discount to make them a permanent part of your Xbox library.

All Xbox Live Gold members can also take the service for a spin with a free 14-day trial, which Microsoft says is their way of “saying thank you to our valued Gold members for their continued support.”

The service differs from Sony’s PlayStation Now subscription service in that games are downloaded to the Xbox console, rather than streamed.

However, once a Game Pass subscription lapses, all downloaded games will no longer be playable. If you’re looking for details on , follow the link.
